Dealing With Unemployment

For those who are unemployed, you have probably heard all of the advice you can take at this point. Everyone giving you what they think are surefire ways to get yourself working again, only to find that every “technique” or advice given to you only causes you to fall even more hopelessly into a funk that you feel you will never climb your way out of. Well, first off, should you feel this way, always remember that you are as normal as you could possibly be. It is if you didn’t feel this way in your situation that you would seriously need to begin to worry. Generally speaking, unemployment is a temporary situation and as such it must be kept in perspective that you are going to be okay in the long run! For the time being though, here are some strategies to help you weather this emotional and financial storm you currently find yourself in.

One of the most underrated aspects of surviving unemployment has nothing to do with looking for or getting a new job. It is about taking care of yourself. That doesn’t just mean eating well, but taking care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally. Don’t allow your employment status to alter your social interaction with your friends and meeting new people. For, you need this mental and emotional stimulation now more than ever. Next, exercise whenever possible! You don’t need a gym membership to go walking, running or biking out in the sunshine to give you a health boost not to mention a mental boost from the natural sunshine as well. Finally, eating healthy will keep you content and happy with who you are and what you see in the mirror. After all, ninety percent of looking good is feeling good. By maintaining your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing in these, the toughest time of your life, you will have the total package to face the world and get back on your feet and thrive once again as you have done for years prior to this difficult period.

Nobody is going to hand you anything in this life. Ultimately it is up to you to be an advocate for yourself and proactively go out each and every day trying to be a better, more, well-rounded person. By taking this time to refocus your energy on making yourself the best person you can possibly be, you will begin to see those positive changes blend into other aspects of your life and you will be employed and working sooner than you currently even think possible.
