File For Tennessee Unemployment Benefits Online

If you recently lost your job in Tennessee, you may be eligible for unemployment insurance (UI). If you are eligible, then you can file for unemployment online or you may apply for benefits by phone or in person.

Determining Eligibility

To qualify for unemployment benefits in Tennessee, you must have become unemployed through no fault of your own. Additionally, you must have worked in an industry covered by UI and have received a qualifying level of wages during the base period. You must be physically able to work and be willing to accept suitable work if it is offered to you.

Information to Gather Together Before You File

A substantial amount of information is required for online unemployment filing. Make certain to gather these materials together before beginning the online unemployment claim process. You will need to be able to provide the name, address, telephone number and fax number (if applicable) of your previous employer. You should know the date of your last day of work, be able to provide an explanation for why you are no longer working for your previous employer and should be able to account for the last 18 months of your employment history. Additionally, you'll need to have your own social security number, driver’s license number, address and telephone number handy.
