Claiming Your Weekly Unemployment Benefits in Florida

After receiving confirmation that you are eligible to receive weekly unemployment benefits you must claim weekly unemployment either by the internet or telephone once every 2 weeks. To file a Florida Weekly Unemployment claim by computer please go to the following website: www.floridajobs.org; if you don't have internet available for your use you can call the following number to file for your weekly claim for unemployment: 1-800-204-2418. You may file your claim Monday through Saturday from 6:30 A.M. to 8:00 PM and Sundays from 6:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

You have 14 days from your scheduled date to claim weekly unemployment. If you fail to claim your weeks within the required 14 days your unemployment benefits will be canceled.

You will be asked the following questions after logging onto the unemployment website when you claim weekly unemployment:

1.) What State you live in and your zip code

2.) Your Social Security Number, if you are not a citizen of the U.S., enter your Alien Registration Number.

3.) You PIN number

4.) You will be asked if you worked during the first week you are claiming your weekly unemployment. Answer either yes or no. If yes you must enter the days you worked and your earnings for those days. If no, answer no.

5.) The next question you will be asked is pertaining to the second week you are claiming. Answer either yes or no. If you worked, answer yes, and enter the hours you worked and your earnings. If you have not worked during that week, answer no.

6.) After answering all questions, click "claim my weeks." You will be asked to do this for your first week claimed, then your second week claimed.

It is important to always tell the truth when making your unemployment claim. Failing to tell the truth is a 3rd degree felony and you will be charged up to $5,000.00 in fines and 5 years in jail.
