Filing for Delaware Weekly Unemployment Application

With a questionable economy that continues to struggle finding yourself suddenly unemployed can be a rather stressful time while trying to maintain your financial security. Workers in the United States, however, may be able to claim weekly unemployment benefits to temporarily ease the burden. Workers in the state of Delaware should file an initial weekly claim for unemployment as soon as possible to begin the process of receiving compensation.

To file a Delaware unemployment weekly claim, workers must first meet some eligibility requirements prior to filing then follow certain criteria to continue receiving compensation.

You must have been employed in Delaware and earned enough money during your base period to collect a weekly unemployment claim. A base period is defined as the first four of the last five calendar quarters of the year. The amount you receive will be determined by how much you earned during that time. Currently, under Delaware law, the minimum weekly benefit amount is $20 and the maximum is $330.

Once you have completed the initial process and approved to receive benefits you must then file for unemployment weekly. Failure to file for benefits each and every week may result in the denial of future compensation making it imperative to file your claim on time. For a Delaware weekly claim for unemployment, a compensation week begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday.

To file your Delaware weekly unemployment claim you must complete and sign the required form, which will be sent to you, and return it to the nearest office the Sunday after the week you are claiming. There are unemployment offices located in Dover, Georgetown, Newark, and Wilmington.

A simpler way to claim weekly unemployment in Delaware is to call the state's TeleBenefits information hotline, an automated system that also allows you to speak to a customer service representative if necessary.

Residents of New Castle county should call 302-761-6576 while those in Kent or Sussex counties and all other areas should call 1-800-794-3032. Representatives at either number will be able to answer your questions and give you the address and directions to the nearest unemployment office if needed.

File your Delaware unemployment weekly claim using TeleBenefits 24 hours a day, seven days per week. But, keep in mind, unemployment claims filed by 10:30 am Mondays through Fridays will usually be processed the same day while those filed after then will be processed and mailed the following day.
