Apply and Receive Delaware Unemployment

Losing your job can be a rather stressful time especially now with a struggling economy. Workers in the state of Delaware may receive unemployment benefits if qualified in order to help bridge the gap between jobs. In general, to receive unemployment in Delaware you must be out of work through no fault of your own, actively seek employment and be able and available for work. To apply for unemployment, applicants must also register with the state's Division of Employment and Training and participate in any testing or training if applicable.

To continue receiving unemployment benefits each week, claimants must file weekly claims accurately and on time, report to their local unemployment office if needed, report any earnings or wages, and accept any suitable work offered.

If you must visit an unemployment insurance office in Delaware there are four locations to choose from. To locate the office nearest you, point your web browser to http://ui.delawareworks.com/office-locations.php. There you will also find the unemployment insurance information hotlines for Kent, New Castle, and Sussex counties.

To apply for unemployment in Delaware you will need to provide the contact details of your previous employers along with the dates you were employed as well as your own contact information and Social Security number.

Have all of your information on hand before beginning the application process and be prepared to create a personal identification number when using Delaware's TeleBenefits phone system or a user ID and password when using the online system.

You may complete your application or unemployment using TeleBenefits 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To complete the Delaware unemployment application over the phone you will need to provide the same information as when filing in person or online.

To enroll in Delaware's unemployment compensation direct deposit program online, go to https://uidd.delawareworks.com/Instructions.aspx, read the instructions, and select the "Enroll for Direct Deposit" button at the bottom of the page.
