A Guide to Connecticut Online Unemployment Filing

In a day and age of an uncertain economy and skyrocketing inflation, trying to maintain financial security for your family is often difficult enough without adding unemployment to the equation. Connecticut workers may take advantage of the state's unemployment services online and quickly find out whether or not they are eligible.

The Connecticut unemployment services online available to workers is a rather comprehensive system offering step by step instruction along with a wide variety of helpful links to peruse.

Some of the information you will need before filing for unemployment online include your Social Security number, work history for the past 18 months, the contact information for your employers, and the amount of your earnings.

To begin the process of filing for Connecticut unemployment online, first log onto http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/progsupt/unemplt/M1A/LogInIntro.htm. Read all of the information, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the "Click here to access the unemployment insurance online claim system" link.

There you will be prompted to create a user ID and password that will give you access to the system. Your user ID must be at least eight characters long. Choose your user ID wisely as once it is created it cannot be changed.

You will also need an email address to use Connecticut's online unemployment website. If you forget your information you will need to answer three security questions that you set up during the registration process.
