Alaska Unemployment Agency Contact Information

Unemployment insurance benefits can provide a safe haven for Alaskans who have lost their jobs during these days of enormous economic hardship.

Dealing with the loss of a job is difficult for everyone, but the state has a convenient process in place so unemployed Alaskans can get the help they need. The department of unemployment can be contacted by telephone, through its local offices or at its website online.

  • If you are filing an initial unemployment claim, you can speak to a customer service representative at one of the state’s call centers. The office of unemployment phone numbers are: Juneau, 907- 465-5552; Anchorage, 907- 269-4700; Fairbanks, 907- 451-2871. If you are unable to contact these offices without making a long-distance call, you also can reach the call centers by dialing 888- 252-2557. The Employment Security Division has expanded its claim center staff because of the growing demand for benefits. Claims offices now are open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • The fastest avenue for filing an initial claim is to apply at the website set aside by the state’s agency for unemployment. You can reach the site by clicking the “Unemployment Insurance Benefits” link at the state’s internet site: https://myalaska.state.ak.us/home/app. You can begin your application after registering at the site and choosing a user name and password. The online service is available around the clock, seven days a week.
  • After filing your benefits application, you must continue submitting biweekly claims as long as you remain unemployed. If you’ve set up an online account, these continuing claims also can be filed over the internet. If you prefer, you can contact the telephone claim filing system at your local unemployment office, also known as VICTOR. The VICTOR numbers for each region are: Anchorage, 907-277-0693; Fairbanks, 907-451-6126; Juneau, 907-586-4650; all other areas, 888-222-9989. These numbers are different from the call center numbers used to file your first application.
  • Hearing impaired applicants also can receive help with their applications via the telephone. Call the TDD operator and give them the toll-free number phone number for the unemployment agency: 888-222-0432. The operator then will be able to contact your local office to translate the information needed for your claim.
  • Sometimes email can be the best option for getting assistance with your questions about benefits. The unemployment agency email address for each local office is available through the links at: http://labor.alaska.gov/esd_unemployment_insurance/call-centers.htm.
